Johnny “Ballpark” Franks, an award-winning veteran in sports media relations and broadcasting, is the host of “The Johnny ‘Ballpark’ Franks Show” heard each weekday afternoon from 4pm-7pm on Nashville’s SportsRadio 560 on 95.9 FM. And, as a senior account executive, he is in the position to help grow area businesses through marketing partnerships.
After graduating from Florida State University, Franks began a career that spanned over 15 years in sports media relations and marketing in Nashville. He started as the media relations director of the AAA team for the Cincinnati Reds before moving on to work at Tennessee State University. In two different stints at TSU, Franks served in roles from sports information director to eventually associate athletics director for media relations and marketing. He also played a major role on the marketing team as the Houston Oilers made their transition to Nashville as the Tennessee Oilers/Titans in 1998-99.
Franks was one of the most highly-decorated and honored sports publicists ever including being named three times as the nation’s best sports information director. With his sports and marketing background along with a MBA, he has used these tools to establish a highly successful career as a sports-talk show host, which began in 2008 in Huntsville and later in Biloxi/Gulfport, Mississippi. He is rare at what he does in the sense he has true working knowledge of what happens behind the scenes in sports.
A native of Huntsville, Franks is married to the former Vickie Large. He and his wife are also very involved in community service, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Humane Society.
Jeff Diamond is a business and sports consultant who also does on-air media work--including a daily role on The Johnny Ballpark Franks Show on WNSR SportsRadio 560 AM/95.9 FM. He is former Chairman and CEO of The Ingram Group and previously was a successful executive in the National Football League as president of the Tennessee Titans and vice president/general manager of the Minnesota Vikings. He was selected NFL Executive of the Year in 1998. Jeff's list of consulting clients includes 2nd Surface Design Co., ZeSa Fitness, The Institute for Athletes (NFL player agent group) and the NHL's Nashville Predators.
